Tier 1 Technical Support Roadmap
Step by step guide to breaking into technical support
Who this roadmap is for:
- •Career switchers
- •Admin, banking, or customer service backgrounds
- •People returning to work
- •No prior tech experience required
What this roadmap covers
This is the public starting path for customer-facing software and SaaS support: tickets, investigation, and clear updates. It is not an internal IT-helpdesk, hardware, or CompTIA track, and you do not need to learn to code before starting. Completing the roadmap does not guarantee a role. Interactive practice is not a live product.
Technical Fundamentals
Build essential technical knowledge for remote software support roles (SaaS, internal tools, web apps).
Core Computing
Foundational knowledge for software support
Start with the operating system on your main machine, plus any virtual machines you already have. Skim the other platform guides so you can help people using systems you do not own. You do not need a Mac to finish this item. The Windows Microsoft Learn link gives free troubleshooting practice for end users. It is not a certification to pass. MD-102 / Endpoint Administrator is a separate desktop-admin path. Skip it unless that is your goal.
Troubleshoot common browser-based issues in SaaS applications
Diagnose connectivity and access issues using core networking concepts
Perform basic troubleshooting tasks using the terminal
